In 2008 the Holy Spirit revealed to me the key that led to an amazing journey of victory over addiction and deep spiritual growth over the next 12 years.
Simple but TRUE:
“…walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh”
~ Galatians 5:16
Now if this verse is true then the primary pursuit of every Christian at the beginning of their journey should be to LEARN how to walk by the Spirit.
Sadly, I was saved for 6 years before I stumbled across a deep understanding of this truth. Why? Because no one in the number of churches and Christian circles I was involved in ever spends time on practically teaching what it means to walk by the Spirit and HOW to do it.
Stop Wasting Time!
Stop wasting time on learning “Biblical Foundations” on “what the Bible says” about every imaginable topic. Most churches and ministries have become information centres while they should be Equipping-Training Centres.
If you teach people how to BE in the Spirit and WALK in the Spirit, HE will lead and guide their every step and make the Bible come alive to them.
You Can Either Teach People to Death or Equip Them for An Experience!
The Bible only has value to you if the Holy Spirit is your Spiritual Trainer!
I credit most of my spiritual growth to these 3 books. But only if you read them together. Why?
“The Normal Christian Life” contains a deep biblical understanding of spiritual growth, but just knowledge will not help you much.
You also need to know how to experience God’s presence practically. It’s IN THE SPIRIT that you grow spiritually. You need to learn how to “GET IN”! This is where “Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ” Comes in.
Finally, there is no better book to motivate you for the journey ahead and to birth a spiritual hunger inside of you for a lifestyle in God’s presence than “The Practice of the Presence of God”. This book also has additional practical insights that are very helpful for the process.
